I just recently read from an article on Digg.com that Pownce has been acquired by Six Apart and will be shutdown by December 15, 2008. The news was a bit a surprise for me since I'm a Pownce user myself but I'm also happy that Leah Culver and the rest of the Pownce team has joined one of the most established groups online.
Since I'm already familiar with the Movable Type environment which is similar here in Vox.com, I experimented further by installing Movable Type 4 on my newest website (http://www.cnsqweb.com/mtblog). At first glance. the dashboard area was quite similar to it's Wordpress counterpart in some aspects. And configuring the design was a bit easy.
As a graphic designer, I'm always attracted to vector design which is why I decided to change the theme from its default minimalist theme to this current vector design theme. There are a lot of cool themes which where contributed by several web and graphic designers who are also using Vox.com
As a web designer and developer, most of the projects that I have handle are most based on the popular platform Wordpress which is a given because Wordpress is a great blogging platform and in my opinion it's the best in the business.
While you might ask "why am I not blogging on Wordpress?" Well my answer is quite simple: I got curious about Movable Type (a Perl-based blogging platform which is one of the counterparts of Wordpress) and also I wanna explore why this blogging platform it's not as good as Wordpress. I read about some of the comments about Movable Type yet experience is still the best proof that I have to take so that I would know.
Since I haven't downloaded and explored Movable Type itself, my next best thing was to try out their free blog service which is similar to Wordpress.com called VOX.com. As of this writing, I'm impress that their editor is much similar to Wordpress yet some features are missing like the "post break" but still I have to explore more.
That would be it for now... catch you all on my next blog post.
